The primary focus is to get Alpha V2 up on Steam and to continue with quality of life improvements to the game. By focusing on this now many of the issues can be ironed out and provide a better experience for all. This focus has been primarily on performance and improvements and making sure the game can be built and uploaded to steam in an easy repeatable fashion in the event there are any issues with the builds in the future.
Steam integration has been going extremely smooth. Actually a lot smoother then anticipated which shaved several days off of the timeline. The first test builds have been uploaded and initial testing is occurring to ensure everything works properly. Several of the early game achievements have been incorporated with place holder icons. The number of achievements will continue to grow as the game nears release but having the code stubbed out and in place helps make sure everything runs smooth. Below is a sneak peak of one of the first achievements in the game.
In order to prep for Alpha V2 loading screens have been added as well to help avoid the idea the game is frozen while it loads all of its assets. This is a pretty straight forward implementation but very important on the road to launch and now that the data is becoming solidified its a good time to put them in. They currently reuse the current intro art to help tie the game together.
Death and Return to Earth UI
New confirmation windows have been added to help illustrate to players the progress or lack there of during their explorations. They are shown whenever a player's ship is destroyed or they return to earth . As there is no "game over" when you lose your ship the game becomes progressively harder as the research becomes lost so showing how many points you are losing or gaining becomes very important.
