This week has been primarily focused on getting Alpha 1.7 ready and available. The latest build focuses primarily on bug fixes and increasing the overall player experience. Take a look at the changelist to get a grasp of all the changes as there are quite a few.
New Engine Room Objects
Shield and Weapon storage units have been added to the engine room. Mechanics while assigned to the engine room can now store energy into each corresponding container. These units are essential in combat to add a needed boost at just the right time. Those that are familiar with potions in fantasy games would understand the importance of having something to use in reserves for just the right moment.
In order to use them click on the objects and select the boost weapon/boost shields option which will fill the ship with the energy that has been created.
Currently there will be no alpha 1.8 or 1.9 in order to fully push to Alpha 2. Alpha 2 will have the full integration with steam to allow for more user feedback and get the Steamworks API fully integrated into the game. This will mean Alpha 2 is aimed for the end of the month which will also include some more surprises to help fully tie the game together.
